Gwa-yas-dums was awarded with the 2007 Canadian Institute of Planners Award for Excellence in Rural/Small Town Planning. It marks the first time a First Nation community had won a national planning award.

The Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation are affiliated with the larger tribal grouping known as the Musgamagw Tsawataineuk Tribal Council. Our population is young, and dynamic and continues to grow.
Home to the First Nation of Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis, Gilford Island is located North of Vancouver Island between Tribune Channel and Knight Inlet.
